Philly Style Sloppy Joes

Ground beef is so versatile, and we get stuck making the same recipes over and over. This one is a super easy twist on a Sloppy Joe.

Prep Time: 10 Minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Servings: 6 adults


  • (1 lb) 85/15 Ground Beef
  • (2 Tbsp) Butter - Millerville Co-Op Creamery
  • (1 small diced) Yellow Onion
  • (1 diced) Green Pepper
  • (8 ounces diced) Mushrooms
  • (2 Tbsp) Ketchup
  • (1 Tbsp) Worcestershire
  • (1 Cup) Beef Broth
  • (1 Tbsp) Cornstarch
  • (6-8oz shredded or diced) Provolone Cheese
  • (6) Hamburger Buns
  • Salt & Pepper


  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet with salt and pepper
  2. Remove the beef from skillet and add the butter, onions, peppers and mushrooms to the pan
  3. Cook until the onions are translucent, 3-4 minutes
  4. Add the beef back into the pan In a small cup, mix the beef broth and corn starch together
  5. In the pan, add the ketchup, worcestershire, salt, pepper, & beef broth mixture into the pan
  6. Cook until the mixture is thickened, 3-5 minutes
  7. Turn off the heat and stir in the cheese
  8. Serve on a bun.  Our favorite is Brioche
